Carmen – Ambassador

Carmen was born and raised in Southern California. She moved to RVA in the Summer of 2019 after accepting an internship position and fell in love with RVA so much so that she decided to stay here to complete her Ph.D. Aside from being a researcher by day, Carmen tends to be a night owl- whether it’s reading, writing or socializing with friends. She also has a 3 year old orange tabby cat named Pumpkin who is her world. Carmen is passionate about wildlife conservation and mental health awareness. When she is not in the lab, you can usually find her out by the river, hiking trails or planning her next travel journey. Carmen enjoys learning new things and bringing people together.
